Activities of Deputy Director, Department of Women's Affairs, Habiganj at a Glance:
Introduction:
Ensuring the inclusion of women in the mainstream of national development and overall empowerment of women is an essential prerequisite for balanced development. With this realization, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman formed the Bangladesh Rehabilitation Board on 16 February 1972 to ensure equal rights of men and women in the Constitution of Bangladesh and to rehabilitate women who were oppressed and harmed in the War of Independence.
Later, the Women's Rehabilitation Board was transformed into Bangladesh Women's Rehabilitation Welfare Foundation by passing a law in the National Assembly in 1974. Which goes through various stages of the Department of Women's Affairs. The Department of Women's Affairs under the Ministry of Women and Children's Affairs is implementing various developmental activities for the advancement of women.
That is why today we are respectfully remembering Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the father of the nation of women nation all over Bangladesh.
Our activities:
VGD:
The VGD program is conducted by the Office of the Deputy Director, Department of Women's Affairs, Habiganj. At present there are 18,216 selected beneficiaries in 8 unions of Habiganj district. Beneficiaries are given 30 kg of wheat / rice in packaged bags every month for two years. Beneficiary women are also provided awareness training through NGOs.
Maternity Allowance:
The Department of Women's Affairs, Habiganj conducts maternity allowance for poor mothers. Under this program, the total number of beneficiaries in 8 unions of 9 upazilas of Habiganj district is 11021 people. Each beneficiary is paid an allowance of Rs. 800 per month for 3 years. EFT means through G2P method Allowance money is sent to the beneficiaries directly from the Ministry of Finance through their own online bank account, bKash, Rocket, Ucash, account. Beneficiaries are also given various awareness trainings.
Lactating Mother Support Fund Program:
The Office of the Deputy Director, Department of Women's Affairs, Habiganj conducts the Lactating Mother Assistance Program for working poor, destitute breastfeeding mothers in the municipality. The total number of beneficiaries in 8 municipalities of Habiganj district under this program is 3171 people. Each beneficiary is paid an allowance of TK. 800 per month for 3 years. Sending money to beneficiaries' own accounts through EFT Is done. Beneficiaries are also given various awareness trainings. Beneficiary mothers are provided health advice by experienced physicians through health camps on their children's health.
Women's Skills Based Training Program for Livelihood:
Under the Skill Based Training Program for Livelihood conducted by the Office of the Deputy Director, Department of Women's Affairs, Habiganj for the purpose of self-employment of distressed, helpless unemployed young women, divorced, widowed and divorced women in 03 (three) months in 05 (five) trades (per twenty). ) Total by John Completely free training is provided to 100 people for each trade through separate skilled trainers (400 people are provided free training every year through this program). Each trainee is given an allowance at the rate of TK.
WTC (Women Training Center) Training Program:
Under this program, this program is running in 113 upazilas across the country. Activities are underway in Nabiganj and Ajmiriganj upazilas in 2 out of 9 upazilas of Habiganj district. Only 30 women were given sewing training in a period of 3 months. For this each trainee is given an allowance of 100 TK.
Upazila Level Income Generating Training (IGA) Project:
Under the income generating training (IGA) project at the upazila level, arrangements have been made to provide free training to 30 women and 60 women in a period of 3 months by conducting 02 trade selections in 06 upazilas of Habiganj district. During training period allowance is paid subject to receipt of daily allotment of Rs. 200 / - for training allowance.
Adolescent Club Establishment Project:
Under this project, 64 clubs including each union and 6 municipalities of the district have been established. In each club 10 teenagers and 20 teenagers are given training on recitation and music. Field Supervisors, Gender Promoters and Recitation and Music Teachers have been appointed to provide training to these adolescents.
Prevention of Violence against Women and Children:
With the assistance of the Chairperson of the District Committee for Prevention of Violence against Women and Children, child marriage is prevented, dowry and child abuse is prevented on the basis of complaints received locally and community and yard meetings are held to create social awareness Is done regularly.
Provide free legal aid:
Legal aid provides free legal aid to abused women. And other cases including abuse of women and children for torture and child marriage for dowry sent to the wise court for investigation and report is sent to the wise court and the abused woman / woman is sent to Sylhet Women's Support Center.
Volunteer Women's Organization:
According to the provisions of the Women Volunteer Social Welfare Organizations (Registration and Regulation) Ordinance (Ordinance No. 46 of 1981) of 1981, a total of 18 voluntary women's associations have been registered in eight upazilas of Habiganj district. Of these, 91 are active societies and 65 are inactive societies. The active societies are given one-time general / special and voluntary grants from the Bangladesh Mahila Kalyan Parishad every year.
Microfinance programs for women's self-employment:
Through this program, micro-credit is distributed among women entrepreneurs, women beneficiaries of VGD and women in voluntary women's organizations with the aim of making women self-reliant. So far, out of a total of 2698 women in the district, loans amounting to Tk 2,039,8,150 have been disbursed.
